Greetings from a very gloomy, rainy upstate NY. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I spent most of mine in Connecticut, and I have to say, it was quite lovely.
We started off with an overnight stay in Mystic, where of course I had to check out Mystic Pizza. It was, thankfully, delicious, though I was sad to learn that most of the interior shots from the film were done on a soundstage and not the actual restaurant. They do have the film playing on a silent loop, though, in case you want to watch Julia Roberts mouth dialogue while you eat.
We also went to the aquarium, ate lots of yummy food, went to a few cool stores, and had afternoon tea at an Alice in Wonderland-themed tea house. The best part of Mystic, IMO, was Alice’s Little Haunted Bookshop, a super cute, horror-filled bookstore. Definitely a must-see if you ever make it to the Mystic area.

From there we drove about an hour to…somewhere else in CT to see my brother-in-law’s band, Dope, open for Static-X. The show was great. GWAR also performed but we spent their set sitting backstage and catching up with family.

So, it was a nice weekend of books, music, food, and family time. Can’t complain!
I also learned last week that PBS picked up my Next Avenue interview with Ralph Macchio and shared it on their Facebook page! It was a nice little boost of validation for my work.
And on Friday I published my interview with author Janelle Brown.
I loved how honest she was about her time at Wired and how those days of cheering on the internet led to her latest novel (which is fantastic) about the dangers of technology.
On Friday I’ll share my interview with singer-songwriter Joy Clark, who released her debut album, Tell it to the Wind, last year at the age of 40.
That’s it for now! Thanks for reading! Wishing you a week full of art and creativity!
Sounds like a perfect diversified weekend! 💕
